We compiled the number of words spoken by male and female characters across IMDB's top films of the past 15 years. We then compared the films by the genders of their creators. Here's what we found.

of specified films are male dominated.
We chose words of dialogue spoken by either gender as a metric of a film's gender learnings (inspired largely by the Bechdel test). Data was collected on 1000 of IMDB's top movies of the past 10 years with Python's Beautiful Soup library.
If we evaluate the films by a simple percentage breakdown of male-female dialogue, we see a skewed normal distribution with a mean of 76%.
Not enough data is used to make any conclusive statements on the impact of gender on revenue (this would require a more rigorous filtering process). Interesting however, we can see comparable average revenues for male and female gendered movies when we filter by the creative roles.
